microfibre inserts

do these get more absorbent with washing? my (small) nature baby stuffable leaked with one small insert so the next time I put 2 in - baby woke in the night after 2.5-3 hours and her babygro was wet (not damp, wet). Maybe DH didn't put it on properly or maybe the insert was sticking out the hole a bit? They are second hand nappies but some of my inserts are new, wonder if they get better with washing like bamboo does?

Nope, where they are man made, what you see is what you get

No, they stay the same. I always use 2 inserts (or one plus a folded microfibre clth from tescos etc)but it is easy for pocket nappies to leak esp when they're overstuffed. I wouldn't use them at night, would always go for cloth plus cover.

wysiwtg as flame says - when saturated though they can easily compress and sponge out.... I would recomend a hemp insert in there as well underneath the microfibre one as they absorb more but slower...

Good luck

Also check the fit--I've had problems with pockets being too big around the legs and the pee just rolls out.

thanks everyone. where is the cheapest place to get hemp inserts? i did also try a tesco mf cloth folded in 3 with an insert and that was ok, but was daytime.

we also have bumgenius, just using the large pad at the mo, should I boost it with the newborn insert or hemp when she starts doing bigger wees?

Is there really a difference in day/night time nappies? The longest she goes is 6 hours.

Buy them second hand if you feel OK doing so - buying them new means an awful lot of prewashing before they reach a decent absorbancy. So look on www.usednappies.co.uk or similar sites. I like the Green Acre Design (GAD) inserts as they are quite an adaptable style and better still you can stick a value MF cloth inside them. Definitely use the mf cloth with the hemp to absorb liquid quickly, if you don't you'll find the liquid can run off the hemp before it is absorbed.

The only thing I have managed to get to work with a pocket nappy overnight is a bamboo terry square - not too expensive and if it doesn't work you can cut it up to make normal inserts. It might not work with nature babies (haven't tried) as it may be overstuffed for their design. I've used them inside pocket bots and Lollpop pocket nappies without leaks though.

I use Bumhuggers at night time - the sort with a pocket you can boost.

ime naturebabies don't take well to overboosting, they're meant for minimal insserts I think. Hemp is better at night than microfibre definitely. (I don't change nappies at night though) Fuzzibunz do better.
