Do you get dressed every day?

I tend to only get ready and dressed if I'm going out and have plans, if not I'll be no make up, I brushed hair and in my pyjamas. Is anyone else the same or do most get up and ready every morning?

I go out every day. I go for a run (or walk if not up to run…recovering from surgery right now) when I wake up and then, if it’s not a work day, depending on what I have to do in the day afterwards, I shower and change either immediately after returning or after having some breakfast and maybe doing some house chores or life admin (or doom scrolling).

I don't get dressed. I can't wear clothes in the house. I'm autistic and have worn pyjamas in the house once I was able to make that choice. If that makes me scruffy so be it, I'm not too fussed about it. I haven't even showered since yesterday afternoon Shock

99% of the time, yeah. I’m not opposed to the odd pj day but I feel better for getting dressed and washing my face. I didn’t really bother with my first and then we went into lockdown when she was 2 so we had a lot of pj days then too. When my second was born he was in NICU and I wasn’t really sleeping and every day was fucking horrible, but I noticed making a vague effort to shower at night and put clean clothes on in the morning made me feel a bit more human and I’ve kept that up since.

Retired now and often spend the day in PJs. Have a shower and a clean pair on. Never did it before retiring and only do it now when I know I'm in all day with no visitors. I must say it saves massively on laundry!
It's so comfortable and suits my lifestyle at home.

Shower and dress and moisturise every morning. I only wear a bra for work though.

BountifulPantry · 12/01/2025 19:17

I can’t stay in PJs because it is how I used to behave at the depths of depression. So every morning I have a « minimum acceptable standard » for what I’m wearing. Even if it’s just leggings and a jumper - barely different from PJs. But mentally it helps me a lot.

peachystormy · 12/01/2025 19:19

am the same as you OP I only fling on clothes or joggys if am taking kids to school or a club. Nobody really sees me as am in the car.

I know it's a bit slobbish but my MH just can't be bothered to do much at the moment

Snowmanscarf · 12/01/2025 19:23

I get dressed everyday, but if I’m not going out, will wear joggers, tshirt, comfy jumper (and no bra).

Thankgodxmasisover · 12/01/2025 19:24

I'm trying to think hard but in the last 20 years - I don't think I've had a day where I haven't been outside. It would take such a lot of planning to have one. Sounds nice though!

So for me, I've never stayed in nightclothes past 8am.

TaggieO · 12/01/2025 19:27

I shower every morning, I can’t function without one, so putting my pyjamas back on would make absolutely no sense. Even if I’m not going out anywhere I still clean my teeth, shower and put on fresh clothes, even if it’s just leggings and a hoodie, because hygiene is important, and I feel better being clean and dressed.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 12/01/2025 19:27

Yes i don't feel like my day has begun until I'm washed and dressed and it helps wake me up and get me more motivated for housework. But if I'm not leaving the house I'm only changing into clean lounge wear/ leggings / trackies.
I hate sitting around in my pajamas all day and only do it if ill or very rarely hungover.
I also try and engineer a reason to leave the house at least once a day if possible.

This is so rude and unnecessary. You sound like a child.

OP I get dressed every day but I have a good selection of home clothes/loungewear to wear around the house. My son also does and he has to get dressed every day as I think it's an important habit to get him into. I don't think it's good for mental health not to dress each day.
I've had periods of depression in the past and I think if I were to stay in my pyjamas I'd feel pretty uncomfortable/low mood so I won't risk it.

You've answered your own question ... could not have put it better myself!

LaPalmaLlama · 12/01/2025 19:38

Yeah but I just hate nightwear in the day. Even when I’ve been in hospital for a few days I’ve got dressed in the days and when I was housebound for 4 weeks post op I still did it. Otherwise you feel like the days and nights are just blurring into each other. It’s also v rare that I don’t go out but my kids are older and when they were little we lived somewhere with better weather so still went out.

UnravellingTheWorld · 12/01/2025 19:47

Yes, one if the first things I do in the morning is get myself and the kids dressed. I love my jammies but I hate wearing them during the day.

BeLilacSloth · 12/01/2025 19:53

When friends have told me in the past that they’ve stayed in pyjamas all day I find it a bit gross 🤢 I get washed and dressed every morning, if i’m barely going anywhere I don’t bother with make up.
