Do you get dressed every day?

I tend to only get ready and dressed if I'm going out and have plans, if not I'll be no make up, I brushed hair and in my pyjamas. Is anyone else the same or do most get up and ready every morning?

Pre-DC we used to have really lazy Sundays when I'd stay in pyjamas most of the day then have a nice bath around 4 and get changed into fresh pyjamas.

Never not got dressed since having children. Don't think we've not left the house for an entire day more than 3 or 4 times since having them.

HoraceCope · 12/01/2025 17:49

even when i was in hospital i got washed and dressed

ODFOx · 12/01/2025 17:52

We used to do this occasionally as a planned activity: often new slippers were involved. All in a line along the sofa cuddled under blankets watching stuff on the telly and drinking warm squash.

I don't do it if everyone is out. If I stayed in 'Jamas all day I'd accomplish nothing!

Autther · 12/01/2025 17:53

Occasionally have a pj day but honestly probably did that more pre kids. We always go out. Even if I work from home I need to do the school run

Nellyelephanty · 12/01/2025 17:55

I’ve never stayed in my pajamas during the day unless flu or Covid. Always get dressed even if just joggers

SantanaBinLorry · 12/01/2025 17:57

Slouchies/pj's here if we're not going out. Kids n all! Shocking, I know.
It's nice to be comfy and warm and saves loads on laundry, and keeps nice clothes nicer for longer 🤷
We've got plenty of 'slouchies' to rotate and keep clean for those getting the ick!

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 12/01/2025 17:59

I don't wear pjs anymore but I do stay in my house clothes - my thick, lined joggers, a vest and a knock-off oodie - all day if I'm not going anywhere. I don't change for visitors and I am happy to nip out to the bin or sit in the garden in them.

DoubleShotEspresso · 12/01/2025 18:03

I cannot function unless I showered, dressed and eith make-up on. Only way I coped through lockdown 🤣
I have friends that spend most if their time in loungewear. They baffle me as much as I do them.
Do what suits you OP!

Yes. Why wouldn't you?

Because you don't work and don't intend to.

HumanbyDesign · 12/01/2025 16:49

This is such a ridiculous overreaction - unless you have anxiety or some form of OCD?

There is nothing wrong with having a pj day if you're not going out - we all love it in our house, especially in winter when the weather is crap and no-one wants to go anywhere!

We do, however, have a "24hr" rule, whereby no outfit can be kept on for longer than 24hrs without a full change so I do have some standards I'm passing on to the kids 😆

Edited

The wording of ops original post leads the reader to conclude this is frequent/regular not a one off event or something that only happens on a weekend

aintnospringchicken · 12/01/2025 18:10

I get showered and dressed every morning. If I'm not going out I might be in comfy joggers or jeans s a sweatshirt or jumper and will put on something a bit smarter if I'm going out anywhere other than the supermarket

CanINapNow · 12/01/2025 18:11

If I don’t need to go out then will stay in PJs yes. Sometimes even shower and then just put clean PJs on 😂. I like to be comfy and I’ll only be getting covered in baby food anyway. DH can’t do it though, he HAS to get dressed. Won’t even nip our to get something from the car in his PJs!

frijolito · 12/01/2025 18:12

Nightmarewithdelirium · 12/01/2025 17:28

Not unless I'm going out. But I do go out most days at least once.. but I won't get dressed until I'm about to go out. So if I dont go out until the evening I won't have gotten properly dressed until then.
Tbh in the summer if I don't go out I'm just in my pants and a tshirt. In the winter I might put leggings and a jumper on as well.. but only might lmao!!
I also don't make my kids get dressed unless they are going out. I do make them put new underwear on as soon as they wake and do a morning routine with washing and teeth brushing etc..
But I don't force them to put on a full set of clothes. However my son sometimes does even if he's hot going anywhere.. however my 6yo daughter just wants to be in her pants and vest. And I don't make her get dressed unless we have to be somewhere or someone is coming round.
I don't see why. I base rules around there being a reason why something needs doing.

Doesn’t it then take an age if you decide to go somewhere last minute if nobody is dressed?

thebrowncurlycrown · 12/01/2025 18:13

Yes we have PJ days, mostly on Sundays when we're not going out and have no guests round. I do brush my hair, that's about it. But no make up or showers, and sometimes don't even wash my face! If I pop to the corner shop I'll change my PJ bottoms. And why not? It doesn't give me the ick and I'm in my own home minding my own business. Surprised not more people do this and give themselves a break.

HeChokedOnAChorizo · 12/01/2025 18:14

I shower and dress everyday, I really can’t go without a shower, I feel grubby otherwise. But when I get in from work and not going back out or taking DD to an after school club I like to get into my pjs as soon as possible.

only wear make up when I am in the office

TiredEyesToday · 12/01/2025 18:15

Today DS and I haven’t got dressed because I’ve got a stinking cold, he has a less stinking cold. We’re not going anywhere, we had nothing important to do, and I’m a LP so it was all about making life as easy as possible today. We’ve also just had take out for dinner. 🤷‍♀️

Crumpies · 12/01/2025 18:19

I always get dressed and I couldn’t imagine a day with children when I wouldn’t go out (unless they are sick of course)
Even just for a 10 minute walk I would get out of the house

Ihaveoflate · 12/01/2025 18:23

I get washed and dressed every day. The only time I would stay in pyjamas is if I was poorly. I would feel really smelly and grim if I didn't, and we basically never stay in all day (I'd be quite happy to, but my 5yo would be climbing the walls!).

pljlse · 12/01/2025 18:23

Oh god no, that makes me feel depressed just thinking about it, I don't know why. Only time we don't get dressed is if unwell. I have more comfortable leisure wear I will wear at home on Sundays if not going anywhere, but not pyjamas. I don't even like getting into my pyjamas too early in the evening, I don't know why, feels slovenly somehow.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 12/01/2025 18:25

I'm off to put mine on now.😀
Any objections 😁

unmemorableusername · 12/01/2025 18:28

I love love love a no demand day.

I find getting dressed quite stressful.

It's a joy to have a day where I dont need to do it.

I feel so refreshed. It's comforting not having all those changes of temperature & texture.

SoftPillow · 12/01/2025 18:28

Absolutely every single day with a newborn I was showered, clean hair and dressed by 9.30am Some days makeup and others not. Every single day we left the house.

2nd and 3rd babies obviously I had to get up and dressed to take the eldest to school every day.

My mental health would suffer if I was to stay in PJs all day, it would impact how I felt about myself.

Beautifulweeds · 12/01/2025 18:35

Yes, every day, as I almost always have to go out. The very rare occasion I have a full day at home I'll change into comfies. If I was single and wfh then I'm sure it would be a different story lol 😆

MajorCarolDanvers · 12/01/2025 18:40

I’d only stay on my jammies if I was ill.

Dyra · 12/01/2025 18:40

If I don't want to, and have no plans to go outside, then no. Nothing wrong with a pyjama day. Just change your pyjamas before going to bed and it's all good.
