Do you get dressed every day?

I tend to only get ready and dressed if I'm going out and have plans, if not I'll be no make up, I brushed hair and in my pyjamas. Is anyone else the same or do most get up and ready every morning?

I absolutely got dressed ever day. In fact I went smarter than pre baby
Nothing fancy though. First child was a summer baby so I bought a load of really nice dresses and sandals to wear. Second baby was an autumn one but again I got a simple but lovely wardrobe.
All easy stuff as I breast fed for a year and you are always on the go and bending and stretching with ba ies and toddlers but I didn't want to look like I let myself go.
I also put make up on as I like the routine of doing it.

This is so rude and unnecessary. You sound like a child.

OP I get dressed every day but I have a good selection of home clothes/loungewear to wear around the house. My son also does and he has to get dressed every day as I think it's an important habit to get him into. I don't think it's good for mental health not to dress each day.
I've had periods of depression in the past and I think if I were to stay in my pyjamas I'd feel pretty uncomfortable/low mood so I won't risk it.

Judellie · 12/01/2025 17:03

Yes but I don't wear a bra unless I'm going out as they're the most uncomfortable garment ever.
Always knickers, leggings, socks, top/tshirt and sweatshirt/hoody tho, depending on the time of year and what I'm doing.
Wouldn't stayin nightwear unless ill and staying in bed.

CorsicaDreaming · 12/01/2025 17:06

I've given up and put pjs on now as just feeling really TATT at the moment - but got up and dressed earlier.

I do occasionally wear pjs all day (if ill or recovering from a bad virus) but bizarrely I change into pjs as I tend to wear a nightie / long t-shirt in bed. So I then sometimes change into pjs if I'm feeling under the weather.

I definitely wouldn't spend the whole day in my nightie though. That would feel weird - and too cold!

CitizenofGotham · 12/01/2025 17:06

I love a PJ day! Finding it weird that so many people are being judgemental about it. If I'm staying in and no guests round, why not be as comfy as possible? Unbrushed hair, no makeup, no shower, I don't even bother washing my face sometimes if I'm staying in all day.

I really don't see the problem. Fair enough if people feel better if they shower and get dressed when home, but I don't know why it's seen as weird not to. Obviously I must be a massive slob 😅

BreatheAndFocus · 12/01/2025 17:08

Yes, I get dressed every day and put a bit of make up on and brush my hair whether I’m going out or not. It makes me feel better and cleaner. Sitting around in my PJs all day would be weird and horrible to me. I also think that getting ready for the day helps mentally, and that includes clothes and a bit of hair/make up.

WellsAndThistles · 12/01/2025 17:10

I'm not working or heading out today so put clean pj's on after my shower this morning, i do alsowear bra, pants and socks with the pj's as i couldnt do any housework, cooking etc without underwear on!

Generally though I'm up and dressed everyday which I'm sure my work colleagues appreciate!

devongirl12 · 12/01/2025 17:10

Yes.

I'm far from prim and proper, but I think the outfits available such as leggings, joggies, jumpers, there is just no need to stay in pyjamas.

Why would you?

25GB · 12/01/2025 17:13

Always dressed. I hate hanging around the house in pyjamas. Makes me feel rubbish.

Onceachunkymonkey · 12/01/2025 17:14

Do you not have lounge clothes, leggings, joggers, tops etc?

personally no, I’d not do this. I can’t imagine staying in my pyjamas all day, unless I was very ill.

Hoplolly · 12/01/2025 17:16

Of course, why wouldn't you?

Showered, dressed, make-up - the whole works even if I am not leaving the house. Makes me feel 'ready'. I feel like a big old sloth in pjs.

FanofLeaves · 12/01/2025 17:16

I don’t really understand ‘not going out’. I have a three year old and I think we’ve only ever stayed in all day for illness. But it’s a small flat, he’s like a spaniel and there’s no garden.

still can’t imagine not getting dressed though, I’d feel right scummy.

YeGodsandLittleFishies · 12/01/2025 17:16

Everyone gets up, showered and properly dressed every day unless properly unwell.

Also it’s rare for us not to leave the house at all, again unless unwell.

I feel the same. I'd be cold in pyjamas at this time of year and find them less comfortable than trousers and a top. Especially I can't see the point of taking the pyjamas off to put underwear underneath, then replacing the pyjamas. You might as well get dressed.

turul · 12/01/2025 17:19

Get dressed every day, often gym type wear. Sometimes even if WFH and it is likely to be a difficult day I wear a dress and full warpaint. Sets me in fully professional mode.

poute · 12/01/2025 17:21

Yes, I'm a sahm but I've always got dressed and done my hair and makeup every day. I always go out at least once a day - my dd is in nursery 4 mornings now, but before that I used to do classes or children's centres with her. We go out every weekend as a family.

The only time I've not got dressed has been when I've been very ill. I do change into my comfy clothes after I get home and I won't be going out again - trackies and top.

NewYearStillFat · 12/01/2025 17:22

Always have. But wear a lot more joggers and activewear than before.

YouveGotAFastCar · 12/01/2025 17:23

No, I get dressed every day, but I need a shower to feel awake and alive and I can't deal with being in PJs all day. I don't do it at any time of the year, to be honest, and I get changed into different clothes even if it's joggers while unwell or at hospital.

My children do, too, and my husband. He's a bit more lax, he'll come downstairs in a dressing gown and have breakfast on a slower morning, I'm dressed before I come down.

cloudydays2 · 12/01/2025 17:24

Since becoming a mum I get myself dressed everyday. Was the only thing that would make me feel better about myself in those early post partum days!

Nightmarewithdelirium · 12/01/2025 17:28

Not unless I'm going out. But I do go out most days at least once.. but I won't get dressed until I'm about to go out. So if I dont go out until the evening I won't have gotten properly dressed until then.
Tbh in the summer if I don't go out I'm just in my pants and a tshirt. In the winter I might put leggings and a jumper on as well.. but only might lmao!!
I also don't make my kids get dressed unless they are going out. I do make them put new underwear on as soon as they wake and do a morning routine with washing and teeth brushing etc..
But I don't force them to put on a full set of clothes. However my son sometimes does even if he's hot going anywhere.. however my 6yo daughter just wants to be in her pants and vest. And I don't make her get dressed unless we have to be somewhere or someone is coming round.
I don't see why. I base rules around there being a reason why something needs doing.

Alwaystired23 · 12/01/2025 17:29

Yes, I get dressed every day. I feel awful if I don't. I get showered and get dressed. If I've no plans to go out, I would probably wear something comfy, such as leggings and big jumper. I don't always wear makeup as I generally don't wear loads anyway. If I didn't get dressed, I'd feel "dead inside," if that makes sense. Getting dressed for me, is definitely related to my mental health.

No shower? I just couldn't. Even when I had newborns I made sure I showered and dressed.
I feel grubby and grim if I didn't.

Mrscharlieeeee · 12/01/2025 17:43

Unless I'm too poorly to get out of bed, then yes, I get dressed every day. I work FT mon-fri and do the school run most days. I do wfh sometimes but even on those days I'll be in leggings/joggers and a hoodie. If I'm not leaving the house and have no meetings that require camera on then I won't wear makeup but always shower and do skincare.

HoraceCope · 12/01/2025 17:45

yes i get washed and dressed every day,
and i go out every day, if not to work, then out with dog
