Faulty fridge have only just realised - anxious

So we have just realised tonight our fridge temp has not been low enough. There must be a fault. I had noticed that I’d been throwing food away more quickly than usual but I just assumed the meat was not super fresh when buying. I think this must have been going on for weeks. I feel absolutely floored with guilt as I have a one year old and I will no doubt have been feeding him yogurt, cooked meats and cheese etc that will have been kept at the wrong temperate.

We won’t be eating anymore fresh foods from the fridge until fixed.

Thankfully none of us seem to have got ill from it but I can’t shake this feeling of stress and guilt that it might still happen as I fed everyone reheated chicken today from our roast yesterday.

Just looking for some reassuring words really 😭

You HAVE been throwing things away, using your senses when you could tell things weren't fresh. Nobody has got sick, so you've been doing a great job of not feeding anyone anything dangerous, even if that was only subconscious. You didn't know, so there is nothing to feel guilty about. And the chicken was cooked, and kept cool for just a short amount of time, so it will be fine. I understand the worry and the guilt when you have a little one, but honestly, you haven't done anything wrong and there haven't been any bad consequences, so just mark this one up to experience, breathe a sigh of relief and move onwards and upwards.

Our fridge was too warm for months/years! We thought the milk was wrong as that was the only thing we noticed going off too quickly. Nobody got ill. You'll probably be fine. We have a little fridge thermometer now and the milk is never off!
