Potty training and knicker poop

Looking for any advice. DD (will turn 3 at the end of the month) has been potty trained for urine for around a month now. She just will not poop on the toilet though. It's always in her knickers then she denies she's done it. A few times when I've asked her why it's in her knickers she's replied 'it's a bit funny'.

She's exactly the same at nursery too. Happily wees on the toilet but will not poo. I've tried different potties, toilet steps, rewards. She tells me she's going to do it on the toilet but then just doesn't. Pretty sure she's doing it on purpose too as she will wander off somewhere quiet.

Help!

Have you tried putting a potty in the places she likes to go to poo? DNiece used to go behind the long curtains in the lounge to poo in her pants and putting the potty there helped

Sticker chart and big reward for ten poos in the potty.

Will she poop on the potty but with her knickers on to start with? Annoying for you I know but it might help the transition

It is really normal for kids to struggle with the sensation of pooing on a potty or toilet (I'm 3/3 so far with mine!

It can help to line the potty with a nappy so she can feel something against her. Have you got a stool by the toilet to put her feet on so she can still squat? That makes a big difference as it's hard to push when your legs are dangling!

If the poos are solid enough you could consider both going to put them down the loo so she sees what should be happening and understands the process.

Lots of people recommend 'Mr Poo goes to Pooland' - a story that explains the process that can help kids 'get it'.

But mostly, don't worry - she'll get there and stressing out will make it miserable for both of you.

My daughter had this. At first she was ok but around 3 months post successful potty training she got to the point she would get off the potty to poo in her knickers.
We introduced pom poms for poos on the potty and then on the toilet. We got a jar that held 10 and she got a small reward for 5 and a bigger one for 10. We did them consistently for 2 sets of 10 by which point she was going without prompting and then the third set we did when she needed a boost or she asked about them and they naturally fizzled out over a couple of weeks. We repeated this when we wanted to shift her from the potty to the toilet and introduced 1 pom pom for 3 wees on the toilet for the first week
