What was the age gap between the middle and youngest?

We currently have two girls age 4 and 2...I would love a third but just not sure about the age gap between the current youngest and baby!

I had 19 months between DC1 and DC 2 and then 23 months between DC2 and DC3

Toomuchleopard · 08/01/2025 15:35

Mine were 4.5 and 2.5 when the 3rd was born. The first year was very hard I can hardly remember anything about it and have almost no photos! It got better though and was nice them all being close in age.

Oneearringlost · 08/01/2025 15:36

2 years 4 months between eldest and middle, 2 years 8 months between middle and youngest. Hard work, but good age gaps, they worked and continue working, for us.

Mine was 20months between DS1 and DS2. 22 months between DS2 and DS3. DS3 is currently 4 months, DS2 is 2 and eldest is nearly 4. It’s hard work, it’s a matter of prioritising who needs you the most sometimes. When I’m on my own sometimes you have to let the baby cry to deal with a more urgent matter with the other 2 for example which is hard. While breastfeeding sometimes I have to be just talk rather than be hands on with my other 2. I always wanted 3 before I was 38 so time was against us, if that wasn’t the case I would have waited until my eldest was in school or even both of them. Saying that I love the juggle and being busy and would even love a 4th now but that could be my hormones!

2025willbemytime · 08/01/2025 22:03

22 months between 2 and 3. Would have been 20 months if I hadn't miscarried.

DS1 was 2 and four months when DC2 was born and 4yr 3 m when DC3 was born

Mum2jenny · 08/01/2025 22:06

I always wanted 4 children, with the first 2 close together then a gap of around 4 years then as another 2 children.
However my second dc was challenging so I didn’t go for any more.
I’d never choose to have 3, partly because ppl in my family group ( and some friends) had 3 children, and all have had issues with them.

Thestablelights · 08/01/2025 22:07

18 months. I would not recommend it! 30 months between 1&2 was perfect!

MarigoldSpider · 08/01/2025 22:09

We don’t have 3 yet. We have 2.5 years between the current 2. I think it will be a 3.5 - 4 year gap between the middle and youngest.

That’s the current plan anyway!

Barryplopper · 08/01/2025 22:10

When dc 3 was born our 2nd was 6, it wasn't a planned pregnancy. The older 2 are great with the youngest though, no regrets here x

LadyWiddiothethird · 08/01/2025 22:12

19 months between 1st and 2nd,2years 4 months between 2nd and 3rd.My third was born a month before eldest was 4.

Mum2jenny · 08/01/2025 22:13

24 months between my 2 children has worked perfectly for me.
There is 30 months between me and my dsis - not a good option as we fight all the time, even as adults.

Frumpylab · 08/01/2025 22:16

We have an unplanned 7 year age gap between 2nd and 3rd. It's worked really well and I'm enjoying having more one to one time with dc3 now the older 2 are teens. So much easier than parenting the older 2 with a 2 year age gap.

DelphiniumBlue · 08/01/2025 22:17

2.5 years between DC1 & 2, then 5+ years between DC2 & 3.
All same sex. Now adults, they are close, and were as children- the older ones always included DC3.

bunnypenny · 08/01/2025 22:20

17months between DC1&2 and 19months between DC2&3….

cherryontoppp · 08/01/2025 22:20

21 months between dd1 and dd2. 16 months between dd2 and ds1

Thepossibility · 08/01/2025 22:21

22 months between 1&2. Then DC2 was 5 when I had DC3. It was perfect for us as I could really enjoy my last baby, DC2 babyhood I barely remember as I was so tired and overwhelmed.

menopausalfart · 08/01/2025 22:22

There are two years between my middle and youngest.

Dutchhouse14 · 08/01/2025 22:23

15 months between DC1 and DC2, 37 months between DC2 and DC3

MumChp · 08/01/2025 22:23

13 years between 2nd and 3rd child.

Rescue2024 · 08/01/2025 22:24

3 yr gap between middle and youngest
2 yr gap between eldest and middle

it was tough but very worth it now the eldest is in her 20’s and they all stay in touch, meet up and support each other as long as borrowing clothes isn’t involved!

DramaAlpaca · 08/01/2025 22:24

There's 16 months between DC1 and DC2, then two and a half years between DC2 and DC3.

DaisyDumplings · 08/01/2025 22:26

18 months between DC1 and DC2, 20 months between DC2 and DC3. I wouldn’t not recommend it. We were on our knees for what seemed like years.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 08/01/2025 22:27

25 months between 1 and 2
19 months between 2 and 3

seaduck · 08/01/2025 22:34

I've got a 2 year gap like you between first two and a 3.5 year gap between the middle and youngest. Gap between youngest two has pros and cons , perfect for childcare in the fact one went to school as other started nursery do not two sets of fees. They don't get on great though and there is a sense of two together and one seperate (not helped by 3rd being different sex). Youngest is 4 so hope that seperate feeling is on the way out now as they are moving out of baby toddler stage. They do all play together still though which is nice and eldest adores their youngest sibling. I think in hindsight, I would have preferred smaller gap but life has a habit of not going to plan and we are happy with our lot!

OldJaxBoat · 08/01/2025 22:40

3 years between middle and youngest which has worked really well.

2 minutes between oldest and middle.
