Bruise lasting longer than 4 weeks?

Hi, my 3 year old DC had a fall at nursery and had a large lump and bruise in the centre of their forehead. We got it checked out that day at an urgent care centre and were given the all clear and the usual advice to watch for signs of concussion etc.

Since then thankfully DC has been fine, no alarming signs and the lump shrunk/bruising changed colour as expected of a typical bruise. We had a GP appointment already booked for something unrelated just over a week after the fall so the Dr kindly looked at the injury then as well and said it's healing well.

However it's now been 4 weeks and there is still an unevenness on their forehead and a slight bruise that doesn't seem to have changed colour or faded in a few days now, in fact some days it actually looks worse than it did a week or so ago. It's not tender at all and DC has not complained once nor have they bumped their head again since! I'm thinking to get it looked at again after this weekend but has anyone experienced similar or could offer any reassurance? Google gives the usual worst case scenarios.

My dd hit her forehead extremely hard when she was 3 and had what I would consider to be a egg shaped bump on her head after a fall at nursery - by far the worst injury she's ever had . Like you we took her straight to a and e to be checked out and they said she was fine, but the bruise took at least 8 weeks to heal and she has a permanent mark/indent where she hit her head. No adverse effects that we are aware of other than the mark which I doubt anyone else would notice but I do as her mum. I didn't take her back to the gp as it did slowly start to fade but stayed yellow for a long time but if you're worried get it checked out - Google is not your friend in this situation, I also looked online at the time and it was very scary !

Hope this helps reassure you a little x

@MaSads thank you this is really reassuring. I too have a feeling there will be some sort of permanent mark or irregularity. Do you remember if the bruise seemed to fade and then come back again?

I ran into a low wire fence in Spain when I was younger. Full pelt into it and it really hurt. The skin wasn't broken but there was a painful lump and a bad bruise. It took months to completely go away. But I was fine.

It looked darker some days then others, my dd is very pale and I wondered if this had something to do with it, her veins are visible on her forehead too so I think it just looked very visible for a long time x
