It certainly looks like it, and time trajectory and spread/distribution is quite typical.
Hope he weathers the storm.
You need to keep him off school until they are ALL scabbed over.
Stock up on calpol/infant ibuprofen syrup, soothing emollient creams, ( unscented). Calomine might help if itchy, but can sometimes make it worse. Don't apply Sudocreme.
All the best.

Looks like it. Poor thing. Oat bath is good. Stick a load of oats in a sock, tie the sock up, hang it under running bath tap.

Thank you! He’s feeling okay so far but I guess it’s just the first day. Ready with calpol and cream! Hoping for the best

No ibuprofen, just calpol. The ibruprofen can cause a reaction. We used virasooth gel which helped stop the itching
Hope it passes quickly and he’s not too poorly.

Will definitely try that! Thank you

Also liquid Clarityn, an antihistamine suitable for children to relieve the itching. Prepare for the possibility of vomiting and a nasty headache too.

I second this.. DON'T give Ibuprofen...
Poxclin is another lotion/mousse which is good..

Toooldtopretend · 03/01/2025 21:17

Yes I would say so. I cannot recommend poxclin enough - it’s expensive but worth it. My (then) 9 month old ended up in hospital as his chickenpox were so bad-you literally couldn’t see any skin and poxclin was the only thing that helped.

buttonousmaximous · 03/01/2025 21:18

That's exactly what chicken pox looks like.

Antihistamines and paracetamol

Thank you! I did give him ibuprofen last night as I the spots had appeared yet he had a fever and I thought it was because of uti. Will give only calpol now!
