Baby sleeping on me

Recently when putting my DD down to sleep, they wake up briefly crying and I place them on my chest, stroking their back and allowing them to settle and fall asleep. After a time (10ish minutes) I then carefully placed them into their basket and tuck them in.

I've been reading about the pros and cons of a baby sleeping their stomach whilst they're on your chest. Because it's only for a brief time I'm guessing it's okay just to help them sleep. But should I try getting them to settle on me in a different position that's more safe and reduce the risk of SIDS?

How old is your DD? X

Also do you mean sleeping on their tummy while on your chest rather than in crib? X

On their tummy, on your chest, is totally fine. Assuming you're awake!

This position is fine even for hours. As long as you're awake. Hence contact naps and boxsets.
