Hi I have a 13 year old daughter from a previous relationship and an 11 week old boy from my husband. I honestly thought I would have only the 1 child, didnt expect to meet someone and have another baby although I am very happy it's happened.

My husband would like maybe 3 children which I knew before we got married.

He will be 31 and I will be 37 this year. Due to my age I am thinking if we want to try for atleast another then maybe we should start trying very soon. We have all the baby equipment now, would be at a work a few short months before being off again on maternity leave, get the sleepless nights out the way together etc

I am terrified though of having potentially 2 under 2. My husband is very hands on, so supportive and when he is home it is great, his background is nigerian and on any future children his mum would be here for a few months to help out in the early stages.

Am I crazy to consider trying soon? Anyone been in a similar situation? Thanks

I was in a similar position with a much older dc1 and dc2 from a second marriage. I don't think you need to rush. I had dc2 aged 36 and dc3 aged 39. It meant dc3 was almost in school when dc2 was born and much more independent, fully toilet trained and able to talk and dress herself, and dc3 was able to have my full attention in the day. I wouldnt have enjoyed having 2 under 2, it's not recommended by obstetricians as it doesn't allow the body enough time to recover, as well as being stressful and expensive with nursery costs.
