8 month old came into contact with coldsore

I am looking for some advice about how worried I need to be as my 8 month old came into accidental contact with my coldsore yesterday morning. I am fully aware of the dangers and am really strict with not kissing him or letting him touch my face etc when I have one but yesterday he just accidentally banged his cheek into it. I washed his cheek with soap immediately after and I have since bought some of the patches which I should have done before but now I am tormenting myself with worry about what might happen. Any experiences of something similar where your child was fine would be so welcome right now! 🙏

Risk to baby should be fairly minimal, please try not to worry. As long as you had been exposed to the herpes virus before 3rd trimester of pregnancy, then your baby should have antibodies to the infection to either prevent contracting it or get it mildy. And if you've breastfed then even more antibodies will have got through to baby- don't worry if not though. As always keep an eye out for any unusual behaviour or symptoms in your baby and seek advice if you are concerned but I'm sure your baby will suffer no ill effects.

I had coldsores with both of my babies and tried not to kiss them when I had one but inevitably forgot at times and neither of them have ever had a coldsore or any issues.
