Baby sleeping on sofa - what age is it safe?

We have followed all safe sleeping advice and our son is now seven months. He can roll both ways, sit up by himself and will soon be crawling.

at night, he sleeps in his own nursery with a cot and baby monitor. But in the day, he likes to sleep on us for a cuddle and is harder to put down in his cot which makes us sleepy/enjoying the cuddle.

I know sofa sleeping together isn’t safe at this age, my question is at what point does it become safe? And what level of risk would we be taking at seven months?

to make it clear - I have no intention of breaking any safe sleeping rules, just more wondering how long we have to do this until!

As long as you stay awake he can stay in your arms on the sofa, I had to contact nap my son til he was ten months and I couldn't physically rock him anymore a she's huge and it was killing my joints. We transitioned to lying next to him in his cot and putting him to nap like we do for his bed, he's not a great sleeper unfortunately but not having to rock him and hold him for all naps has been great, as much as it was lovely holding him for ten months I got nothing done during the day!

If you mean you both snoozing on the sofa side by side I don't think it's safe til they're way way older if at all, definitely not when they're babies and infants as there's a risk of suffocation both positional and accidental by the parent or the sofa itself.

I worry about falling asleep with my DD 6 months as she can crawl and roll and I’m worried she will roll out of my arms!

I think there are risks for quite awhile honestly. There’s the suffocation risk when sleeping and also at that age there’s also the risk of them waking up and hurting themselves falling off! My daughter is 8 months now and I wouldn’t sleep with her on the sofa, she’s crawling etc now and she is so quick, she could easily be off the sofa by the time I’ve opened my eyes
