Tomorrow my 4yo will wake up for Christmas without me for the first time. Honestly I feel sick. How do you get through this?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Will your 4 year old be happy with other patent? Surely that's all that matters. My children are now adults but every other xsmas l wasnt with them, l don't think they remember.

Theredjellybean · 24/12/2024 19:06

I've never had this.
My drxh and I split when they were teens and we all spent Christmas together with new partners, step siblings etc.
But I know we are exceptional.
Just try to think it's one day .....your child won't remember and won't care

You remember it’s just another day . It’s shitty for you but not them . They get two Christmas’s . Mine are 11 and 14 now and think it’s great . People celebrate Christmas on other days for all kinds of other reasons .

my tip is switch of social media make the best of your day it gets easier xx

Oh bless you. I hope you have plans for something to do to keep yr mind off it, to a degree. Your kid will be fine, and you’ll see them again really soon (I assume). It’s tough, but Christmas as part of a family where everyone/someeone is unhappy is also awful. It will get easier, and you’ll find your new normal.
