How can I make my DS5 feel better - poorly with a sick bug :(

My DS is 5 and has been poorly since Friday. He was sick Saturday night and then again yesterday afternoon. He's hasn't been sick today (yet!) but he's had a small bit of diaorrhea. He's so tired and so sad that he's ill over Christmas. I've never known a sick bug to go on for so long! I spoke to the pharmacist who recommended rehydration sachets and said it doesn't sound serious. He's had a slice of toast and a small bit of rice today. He's just so sad :(

I'm scared to feed him anything as I don't want him to bring it back up! What can I do?

I don’t know if this is practical or a good idea, but can you postpone Christmas until he’s well enough to enjoy it?

We were supposed to see family tomorrow so have postponed that and said we'll have a 2nd Christmas Day when he's better. I have a daughter too so trying to keep things fun for her as well so we'll still do presents tomorrow.

Kids can sometimes make miraculously quick recoveries so hopefully a good night’s sleep tonight will help. Fingers crossed OP, if you can get him to sip some rehydration fluids then all the better. Fingers crossed tomorrow is a good day for you all.

Focus on getting him hydrated with the sachets. Rest and reassure him that Christmas can wait till he’s better. Lollies might help give him a a bit of sugar boost.

My LO has also been ill for several days. If she's still sick tomorrow morning then we'll save presents for another day. She's only four though so don't think she'd notice / understand that we're moving Christmas day. I'm a bit sad that she can't enjoy all the nice food we have (she normally eats like a horse). Sorry for your wee guy. Hope they are better soon!

Thanks for the replies. He's refused the rehydration sachets as he doesn't like the taste but he's been sipping water. It's just such a rubbish time for little ones to be ill!!
