Really struggling with Autistic & ADHD son.

Hi

I have a nearly 6 year old who is on the pathway to being diagnosed with Autism and ADHD however all pediatric docs we have seen so hard have said he is.

I am just finding getting off to bed hard and getting him to sleep as it seems to take anywhere up to 3 hours to get him to sleep.

The other thing I'm finding hard is the constant hitting and lashing out because of routine changes.

Anyone have any advice.

Thanks :)

Melatonin 100%

Any idea how to get him to take it as we can't even get Calpol down him without him throwing it back up!!

Really solid bedtime routine, bath with lavender oils, low lighting, melatonin ground up in warm milk. Ours is on 8mg per night now. Stories in dark room (mood lamp on he can control or change colour)

We have alexa playing rain or whale sound for his adhd and then a toni box with stories playing. How he sleeps with all that noise I have no clue but he will NOT sleep in silence due to bouncy adhd brain.

My ds is 9 now and we actually get between 9pm and 3am calm. Then toni box on again at 3am and he sleeps til 6am or 7am.

Had exactly the same experience, apparently people with ADHD don’t produce enough melatonin so we got some prescribed. Melatonin has been the best thing we ever did. Our ND child now asks to go to bed and is asleep in 5 mins. Changed our lives. Apparently it doesn’t work for everyone but definitely try it. Doctor will need to prescribe it.
