Do you take a sick baby out?

6m old is unwell, seems mostly ok in herself today but she’s coughing and quite snotty, her breathing sounds terrible but I think it’s just the blocked nose.

she had rsv and bronch a few weeks ago and has had about 6 colds so far since she was born. Add in 3 sets of vaccines and the month I could barely move post birth and I feel like she’s barely been out the house!

Equally I don’t want to make her worse

would you go out for some fresh air and a walk (wrapped up and not near other people) or not?

We have dogs so DS was wrapped up and in the carrier every day whatever the weather or his or my state of health or exhaustion

Yes ours goes out when unwell and is the same age. No choice really! Stuff needs doing and we can't leave her behind 😅

Ok great I was going to take her but my MIL was aghast and then I got worried I’d be making her worse! I’ve stayed in for the other illnesses but it can’t be good for her to be stuck home so often

Yeah I take mine out when he’s snotty. Tbh he’s never not snotty or full of cold since starting nursery so we’d never leave the house.

Yes I would take out for a short walk unless they're very poorly.
But not anywhere they could mix with other babies and spread their lurgy

Yes I always took my dd out daily unless she was vomiting or had a fever, sniffles don't count as unwell for school or nursery so no reason to keep her from going out.

With a cough cold etc, absolutely ( my mum used to stick me outside in my pram with snow on the ground) tummy upset no.

Coughs and cold we carry in as normal but avoid the vulnerable. Fever we still have to go out to get her sister places but she'll sit in her buggy relaxing, a walk is nice too. Tummy issues stay home. My oldest had bronchiolitis and croup numerous time as a baby and toddler with hospital admissions and when it was croup wrapping her us and getting her our in the cold air calmed the cough right down and helped her breathing.

Yes, I'd take her out. It's good for both of you to get daylight and fresh air every day.

Well, it's dark now but you can still take the pram for a spin round the block!
