Did something really mean and now feel terrible

I know I did completely the wrong thing here, my DS was given a balloon at a little show, after the show his behaviour was not great, he also wrapped his balloon up in his toy. In a moment of frustration I pulled the balloon string off the bow and let it go, my child was very upset. Ive apologised and explained I was wrong to do this but I still feel really terrible, anyone had a similar experience? Have I scarred him for life

The odd bollocking for bad behaviour won't do him any harm at all.

No, exactly it won't. Still might he remember it. More likely so if not a lot else happens to him. Or he might not even recall next week or he may not memtion it again until hes 22. Who knows!

We all do silly things out of frustration, doesn't mean you're a bad mum. Once my son wanted an apple pie from McDonald's but his behaviour was so atrocious on the way home that I ate it instead 🙈. Not my finest moment but you live and learn!

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 this made me laugh so much

Hopefully you're not in Queensland, Victoria or Western Australia. Releasing helium balloons is banned and a fineable offence.

Same lol. They're all unhinged.

Yeah deeply unhinged to care about the deaths of animals.

if we're all so unhinged I suppose it would be better for you two to stay away from us.

It's not the bollocking that's the problem, it's the spiteful casting away of his 'treasure' (balloon) that's the problem. It wasn't a punishment, it was just nasty behaviour. Not good parenting.

the OP knows that, hence feeling bad about it.

OP - we all have those moments. Don't worry.

As for the balloons and wildlife. I think the derail of the thread is unnecessary. No one wants to hurt animals and the OP doesn't need a lecture.

I assume you are all vegetarian?

I am.

but it's irrelevant anyway, to causing a farm animal, pet or wild animal a painful death which is easily avoided by not letting balloons go.

Don’t you just love the idiot comment “no one wants to hurt animals” whilst defending releasing balloons, having been told they cause the agonising deaths of animals! 🙄
