Hi everyone :). My baby is 8w old and has what started as baby acne (according to health visitor and GP) but now I’m not so sure it is baby acne since it also seems to be affecting his eyes and his skin feels quite dry/rough too so I’m thinking it might be eczema or CMPA. He always seems to be in discomfort, he also started to have diarrhea in the last 3 days (GP booked for tomorrow) and he has silent reflux too (he’s been on lansoprazole for about 2w now which seems to be helping a little but it’s early to tell I think). He had mucous on his poo for just 2 days when he got a little cold but no more mucous now just diarrhea. Would CMPA always be accompanied by projectile vomiting, mucus/blood in stool and extreme crying or are there more mild cases? Baby is fully formula fed (Cow and Gate Comfort with carobel to thicken a little - he drinks 3-4oz every 2h on the dot). I’m a bit lost and wondering if I’m overthinking and maybe he just has acne and the fussiness comes from reflux.. idk. What do you think, please?

My baby had CMPA without the more serious symptoms you listed - she had a rash that did not clear, even with twice daily steroids; bad reflux; slow (not non-existent) weight gain (so she dropped percentiles), and was generally upset and colicky.

i was combi feeding at the time, so was advised to cut out milk. If you’re worried, you can get milk free formula? We use SMA althera (which the GP prescribed) but you can buy privately for £16 a tub. FYI, I’ve heard some babies don’t like the taste of it though and struggle to swap.

I’d ask the GP tomorrow and ask if they can prescribe some appropriate formula for a 2 week trial. If the symptoms don’t go away, you can go back to the normal formula!

My youngest had a rash like that. I was convinced it was cmpa but health visitor and gp kept saying baby acne. I cut dairy out and the rash went within a week.
