Team Around The Family/Early Help

Hope someone can put my mind at ease

I've been asked to attend a Team Around The family meeting at my child's school due to attendance concerns

Can anyone tell me, is Team Around The Family the same as Child in Need/Section 17?

I've read some scare stories online and now I am both worried and confused

Thanks in advance

No it's an early intervention, aimed at supporting the family (you and your child) , to overcome the barriers to them accessing their education.
It will involve a plan, with actions for you and for the agencies involved, which you would need to agree to for it to take place. If you don't and there are relevant concerns it can then escalate to CIN. This stage is very much around supporting you all with a multi agency approach.
Do you mind sharing why your child's attendance is poor?

Thanks for your reply

To clarify, I will be attending the meeting and will agree to any suggestions they put forward

I had just read things online that said Team Around The Family was the same as Children in Need/Section 17 which of course worried me

So to clarify, providing I attend the meeting and work with them, it's unlikely to escalate to a Children In Need Plan?
