Appropriate weight gain?

Hi everyone, my EBF baby had her 3 month check up today. She's 14 weeks in 2 days. At 6 weeks she was 11lb 7oz, and today she weighed 14lbs 5 oz. Is this an appropriate amount of weight gained in almost 8 weeks? Forgot to bring it up to the health visitor!

There should be chart in their little red book you can plot it on. Usually it'll follow a line.

Do you not have the growth charts?

11lb 7oz is about 5.12kg
which at 6 weeks is (about 1/4 to 1/3 the distance) between 75th and 91st percentiles
the same point at 14 weeks is 6.6kg
which is 14.55lb or 14lb8oz

so according to the chart I'm looking at, you're absolutely fine.

UK-WHO growth charts - 0-4 years

These are based on WHO Child Growth Standards, which describe the optimal growth for healthy, breastfed children.

I unfortunately don't have growth charts, I'm not in the UK so not sure if it's just not a thing where I am. She's exactly 6.6kg so that seems perfect! I thought 14.55lb meant 14lb 5 oz, instead of 14lb 8oz. I feel dumb now haha, thanks for your help!

I read the centile charts the same as @merryhouse – your baby is following her line beautifully. (Equally, don't worry if it varies a bit, they don't all follow a perfect curve.)

Don't feel silly about the 14.55 lb = 14 lb 8 oz – if anything, it's silly that for baby weights we persist with pounds and ounces with their inconvenient 16 oz = 1 lb.

I'm so glad to hear that she's following it beautifully!! Thank you so much for easing my mind. I EBF and don't pump so always worrying about whether baby is getting enough, even though she always seem satisfied after a feed.

The weight conversions confuse me so much! The numbers just make my brain shut down I don't know why. 😂 To be fair maths was my weakest subject in school so that's probably why, hopefully baby doesn't inherit my maths skills lol

Thank you again for the help!😊
