Weaning - Am I failing?

Hi all. My second DC just turned 6m and we have tried weaning him and it is going awfully.

He cries when in his high chair and if we give purée he gags and eventually vomits and same with BLW. He puts stuff in his mouth and then just cannot swallow and gets frustrated.

i have no idea what to do! Do I give it a break?

My little girl was like this. Just not ready. I waited a little while and tried not to stress.

Thank you for this. I keep comparing him to my DD and feeling down! When you started feeding after the break did you try with pure or BLW?

Just keep offering. They do it in their own time. My friends baby wouldn't touch any food whatsoever until 9 months. She was super worried. Then she suddenly stayed eating anything and everything. I'd stick with BLW if I were you to keep it easy. Just offer what you're having and don't stress if they aren't interested.

I’d keep offering but put zero focus on ingestion maybe consider it more of an “activity” in the day like a baby class or bath time

my Dd was a piece of cake to wean and no 2 was trickier he is 10m now and has def got the hang of it but is still hot and cold 🙃

Keep offering but maybe just try once or twice a day for max 5 mins? Offer a bit of what’s on your plate or just try sitting in the high chair with some toys or empty pots and spoons etc to bash so baby can get used to sitting there.

My second was definitely harder to wean. Baby crisps and wafer things usually went down okay (I’m sure there will be a raft of people saying these are the devil but there we go!)

Thank you all. The second I put him in his chair he gets really frustrated. The gagging is really terrible! I like the idea of playing and making it fun. I always thought purées were harder to gag on!

She took to purees in the end, but I did offer both.
