1 year old conjunctivitis

My 12 month old has been unwell for the last couple of weeks, one thing after another for him, his older sibling and us. Nothing too worrying, just cold like symptoms and a cough, but not too bad. Very irritable and restless.

Anyway, things were easing up and now he’s got conjunctivitis!!! I recall our eldest having it when he was around 2, the GP prescribed drops but when we were sent to the eye hospital they said the drops were irritating the eyes further and to stop them, so we did.

This is probably viral seeing as he’s been sick and nobody else has it, but do we need to see a GP? I’m unsure if it’s a 111 job today on Sunday or wait until tomorrow.

It's really not a 111 job, not even a GP job to be honest. Wipe/clean with cooled boiled water and as it's self limiting, it'll be gone soon.

That’s what I was thinking. Eldest was particularly bad hence GP. Just wasn’t sure as he’s only just about to turn 1, so a lot younger!

thank you.

Cool chamomile tea on cotton wool a few times a day. My dc got it at the same age and we were given oral antibiotics and drops prescription but never used it. I swear by chamomile!
