To get DD a new phone/ replacement

I'm annoyed. My daughter has yet again managed to break her phone. I think this is the 3rd time in 2 years. With Christmas coming up, this is just another thing to pay for.

I have ordered her phone protectors in the past, and she uses them (sometimes takes them off, for some reason). But has yet again done this. I have told her off and explained that she needs to care for it properly.

She is 13 and I like to be able to contact her on it, to and from school, and when she is with her friends. But I am sick of her not caring for it and paying out for a replacement. Plus, the ordeal of all that in the first place.

What would you do?

Get a cheap brick that only does phone calls & messages. That'll do until she learns to look after it.

Cheap phone
if you want to get a more expensive one due to safety/tracking etc then maybe she should earn it? no pocket money/extra treats
has to do more chores to compensate the expense - if these things aren't done/respected the phone is taken away?

Is he replacing with a very basic phone- she's obviously not yet responsible enough for a more expensive one, so stopping her with those. Agree on a timeframe where she can get a more advanced one if she manages not to break this one.

Replacement is a cheap pay as you go with a tenner on it. Option to as for a phone for next birthday

Can you have it repaired and get her to pay you back in chores/pocket money?

Give her the choice between doing that or having a brick that doesn't break as easily as a smartphone.

She obviously isn’t old enough yet to have a phone. Wait 12 months and see if she has become more responsible.

Replace with a brick of you think she absolutely needs a phone

Tell her if she wants a smart phone she has to pay for it
