Doese anyone whose DC play football know about kits?

DS4 has just started going to a football club. He's never really been into football before so doesn't have any of the gear, but all of the other boys have full kits on. I want to get him a kit so he doesn't stand out, but I want to make sure I get the right one.
We don't really have a team we support so I'm looking at an England one. Does it matter whether I get him the home or away kit? Is one more "cool" than the other?
I realise I'm overthinking a lot about a 4 year old's football kit, but he's already very self-conscious that they're all much better than him so I want to make sure he's at least wearing the right stuff.

As others have said. Avoid white. It will stain and you can't hot wash kit as the badges come off (or they do if you buy the fake kits on eBay)
If he's 4 you can usually buy a kids kit which includes socks, shirt and shorts for a fraction of the price of adult kit.
Unless you have a family team they may be fickle in the team that they support for a few years so don't automatically buy the same team next time.
My nephew adored the red England kit we bought him in the sale at Sports Direct. I think it was end of season but he still wears it all the time as it is his favourite colour.

I just thank my lucky stars I only have one football mad DS! Kits are so expensive! Unfortunately at almost 12, DS knows exactly which kits are real and which are fake! Although he thankfully also wears hand me downs from a football mad older friend.

Sports direct do personalisation for an extra £8 I think.

At least it makes Christmas and birthday presents easy for ever....

DS12 decided he was going to support Man City 3 years ago. Me and DH are soooo uninterested in football but he loves it. He's been playing for a year now.

For Christmas he asked for the man city 24/25 kit and he asked for the Real Madrid rainbow dragon shirt. I got them from NewKits and they're no different to his real man city top.

Honestly we have more mum's there than dad's! Especially at training. Although I don't stay for that anymore, far too chilly!
