Anyone else Studying tonight???

I have no motivation and am due to hand in a 3000 word assignment on language development and a presentation on Saturday. Needless to say, I have done nothing for either so thought I would sit and get on tonight but its just not happening.

Anyone else hard at it tonight?

Hiya,
I've just completed a 1000words, so going to have a bottle of wine

What is your presentation on?

Lazylou · 28/04/2008 20:49

Its a boring learning journey presentation which just involves copying something I have already written and handed in. I'm not actually worried about that, its more the development assignment that needs to be handed in.

I was having a major wobble at the time I posted initially, but since speaking to my college pals, I think I am on the right track and its just a matter of pulling out the language from the observations and then linking it to theory.

I know that might not sound great, but it is helping me to keep focused even though I am nosing away on here.

Well done for completing those 1000 words. I am just writing up my observations before I can start the actual assignment

Does anyone fancy writing 1500 words on the legalitles of a dairy processing plant? I can't get any emphusiasm for this at all.

moondog · 28/04/2008 21:37

I should be (last essay of my MSc) but am drained. What are you studying Lou.Lang. devpt. my field as am a salt.

Indith · 28/04/2008 21:41

Lang development sounds fab [linguistics geek emotion]

I was working on oral exam prep til a fried I've not spoken to in ages rang. An hour later........

May give up now, not much point starting something now.

SnafuBecalmed · 28/04/2008 21:43

Supposed to be, but I am flitting between here and Facebook [shame]

wrinklytum · 28/04/2008 21:44

Not so much studying as writing a booklet for my ward linking loads of stuff about key skills framework and audity stuff(It's very dull!!)Have just done 2 hours so am having quick break on mumsnet then back to it yawn.If I write the words "competency" "quality management""framework" or "Trust policy" one more time I will scream!

Good luck everyone!!

Back to the fray.

Wrinkly seeks matchsticks

moondog · 28/04/2008 21:48

Oh wrinkly, are you another NHS slave like me??
It's such a pile of utter wank all of that.,

wrinklytum · 28/04/2008 21:54

Yep to nhs slave
Quadruple yes re paperwork.

You can't even take a s* as an NHS employee now without having to tick a competency box.(In fact I imagine there is some Doh bod out there now contemplating bringing out such a document)

What happened to the actual Caring bit.

Aaargh.Wrinkly goes into meltdown.....

avenanap · 28/04/2008 22:06

There's no time to care, just enough time to tell the students to do the obs so you can dish out the drugs then move on to the next patient

moondog · 28/04/2008 22:11

I went on a backcare course the other day.In it we had to learn how to pick up a pencil safely, and then tick a box confirming that this was so.I can't fucking stand it any longer. As a salt it would be quite possible to go days without foing any actual therapy.

avenanap · 28/04/2008 22:13

Have you had the lecture on how to get into your car safely after a late shift? I knew I had made a huge mistake after it had finished.

Lazylou · 28/04/2008 22:14

I'm doing a degree in early years childcare and education and this assignment is all about language development of one particular child and how we can ensure the child meets the stepping stones in the new EYFS. it is interesting but running out of enthusiasm for this particular one.

swap it for my law on Milk factories (Zzzzzzzzzzzzz)!

dylsmum1998 · 28/04/2008 23:44

hello - i'm studying tonight, just spent 5 hours o my assignement trying to get it finished, just have a quick conclusion to write.
starting to print it off and my printer gone stupid- it wont load paper and dont know why have to hand this in at 9 am- print damn you!!

wrinklytum · 28/04/2008 23:47

Aaargh, its a bugger when that happens.Last week I had to take my work in to show my boss and the printer died on me.Couldn't find memory stick so ended up putting it on 3.5 inch floppy disc in true technological dinosaur mode...

Sending positive vibes to your printer-you will work, you silly machine!!!

avenanap · 28/04/2008 23:50

It will work. Talk to it gently and say please .

dylsmum1998 · 29/04/2008 00:00

phew panic over, after shaking it around up side down- a pen fell out- no wonder the paper wouldnt go through

sorry for jumping in hijacking the thread in such a bad mannered way

Lazy Lou your course sounds similar to mine- I'm doing Early Childhood Studies

avenanap · 29/04/2008 00:35

I've just realised my lecturer has made a mistake on the assignment details. Should I pretend I have not noticed/say something to her/not finish it because all of the things I need to do are now irrelevant?

dylsmum1998 · 29/04/2008 00:39

when is it due in? if its tomorrow i'd pretend you didnt notice, if you have enough time, then i would query it and see what she says

avenanap · 29/04/2008 00:45

It was due on Friday . That was an extension of an extension. It should have been in before christmas. It's a big screw up. I've got to write about the legal stuff behind a dairy farm. She's said the farm takes 200 tonnes of milk a day. When this is calculated into litres it comes out as 1,93798 a day, exceeding the UK milk quota (for the whole of the east midlands) so it will not be allowed to operate any way. Soo boring! I should have choosen my MSc more carefully!

dylsmum1998 · 29/04/2008 00:50

LOL the whole question is flawed, just write that as your answer
sorry not to sure what to suggest, i guess it would depend on how your tutor is, if she's a happy relaxed bunny like one of mine, i'd talk o her in the morning, on the other hand if she was one of the other tutors i had, i'd prob be a scaredy cat and just pretend i read it wrong and that i read the question as 200 litres!

Lazylou · 29/04/2008 21:16

Well, just back from uni and had a right touch. The assignment now doesn't have to be in until Tuesday so am really happy about that!

Downside was, I went to give my presentation tonight and my powerpoint failed to work so had to blag my way through it . Think it went ok though.

dylsmum1998 · 30/04/2008 20:19
