DD has always been a good eater, loves food and loves her milk, but in the last week ish she only wants to breastfeed at night/early morning and will only take a bottle during the day. She is eating solids now and has breakfast, lunch & dinner, along with 2x bottles during the day. I offer her the boob before meals and before i make up a bottle as i would prefer her to have the breast over formula. Is this normal?? Is she weaning herself off of me? :(

Hi, my 9 month old is the same, I’m lucky if he’ll feed once a day now. I feel a bit disappointed as I was hoping to feed him for a lot longer but it seems he’s just losing interest in the breast milk unfortunately! We did start weaning when he was 5 months & he has a good appetite for food & formula but like you said I’d rather he fed from me over formula… I guess they’re all different and you kinda have to let them take the lead as to what they need? Maybe you could try expressing, put your milk in a bottle & see what happens there? Then at least you’d know if it’s the milk or the act of feeding itself if that makes sense. I’d be interested to hear anyone else’s experience too. Good luck x

My eldest (Dd) just kind of lost interest about 8/9 mths old.

My youngest (Ds) however... still mad about it at 18 months. I had to bring it to an end as I reached the end of the road with trying to feed a bitey wriggly big toddler and the nightwakings at 18 mths old.

The difference between them is still there - she saves her sweets and makes them last weeks - whereas he inhales the lot as soon as he gets them! She tends towards stingy about sharing her sweets, he is very generous.

Not sure which approach is most psychologically healthy tbh 🤣

Thanks for the responses. I’ve expressed milk and she will have it in a bottle and she feeds well at night from me, just as soon as the sun comes up she doesn’t want the boob at all! It makes me a bit sad, but I guess she’s just growing up!
