Nutramigen and reflux struggles!

Hi all. We've started our 10 week old daughter on Nutramigen only a few days ago for cmpa after having a diagnosis of reflux for weeks with little improvement to any advice from GPs. We were advised to stop the Gaviscon and see if her reflux stopped or improved with the milk however it hasn't seem to made any difference to the amount of sick yet. Does anyone have any advice on how long to leave it before we decided to go back onto the Gaviscon in combination with the milk? Thanks

Would the GP prescribe Neocate? It is more hydrolysed than Nutramigen and might be more effective.
I would give it more time with the Nutramigen, maybe another week or two.

If I remember correctly from when my DDs were small, (they’re all older teens now so it was a while ago) we were told that it takes 4 weeks for all dairy to come through their system and for them to be free from symptoms so you need to give everything a month or so to work.

I had 1 on Nutramigen and 2 on Neocate. With hindsight, the older one probably should have been on Neocate too as she still puked a great deal, but the pain disappeared with the Nutramigen so we stuck with it as we were so grateful to see her not in discomfort anymore.

The eldest is the only one who still reacts to dairy and she doesn’t avoid it, just limits it in large quantities. There is hope for the future, I promise. It sucks when you’re in it though - long ago as they may be, I do remember those days well.

Thank you both, will bear that in mind, we have a review 3 weeks in so will leave the Gaviscon for now🙂. It's definitely a relief to see AJ so much happier. I don't think either of us realised just how much it was affecting her mood. Even though she's only been on Nutramigen a few days, she's so happy and smiles all day long.
