Lost DS teddy

I feel gutted. We went out today on a big day at a Christmas lights event. DS, 2, had a wonderful day.

The problem? We lost his favourite teddy
The one he goes to bed with, the one he takes everywhere... his "bestest friend"

DP went out for 2 hours retracing our steps hunting high and low. He's had it since birth. Cannot find it. DS has managed to just go to sleep after asking for it and finally being too tired to ask anymore.

I'm actually really really sad. It was a teddy we got from a fair ground game so it's not even one I can replace easily. I've just ordered a very similar one which we may get away with but I'm not sure...

Tips please on how we deal with it lovely mumsnetters... I feel so sad for him.

Was It a local event? Perhaps post on a local FB group to see if anyone picked it up/saw it?
We get lots of posts like this on our local groups.

Yes I've actually just done this. Fingers crossed... I just feel awful.

I've heard and read so many lovely stories of teddies making their way home after being lost so I really hope that happens for you!!

DH lost his favourite teddy when he was 3/4. He still remembers it but his parents bought him a completely different teddy (cos you can't replace the original) and new teddy because the new favourite. They told him that old teddy had sent new teddy to look after him while he was away exploring the world. Even now he occasionally gets a post card from 'original teddy'.

Can you post a pic of the lost teddy on here to see if anyone had one they'd send over?
My DS is very much over his cuddly toys now (apart from the elite group) and id happily send one of his to someone if it helped.

That's such a sad sweet story.

Going through old photos now to see if I can find one with him in.

He is a little husky dog. Very worn and tatty which DS said made him special. "Woof Woof dirty but ok xx (DS name) loves him" my heart is probably more broken than his...

Let me see if I can find a picture.

When DH and I had been dating for a couple of years, his mam (now my MIL) made me promise that I'd keep sending the post cards even after she and FIL weren't able to. I promised I always would and I absolutely will.
