My 3 year old won't tell me when she needs the toilet.

My 3 year old daughter is doing quite well with her potty training. I take her to the toilet often and she manages to stay dry mostly. I have to keep a very close eye on her and judge when I think she needs to go.
How can I get her to let me know by saying wee-wee? I've explained it to her many times that she must let me know but she never does. Will this come in time or is there a method I havn't tried?

tell her that if she tells you when she needs a wee, or goes by herself, she will get a sweetie. sweeties for wee wees. worked for us.

Thanks, I'll give it a go. She would do pretty much anything for sweets so fingers crossed. Not sure nursery would approve though.

she is already getting one for delivering one into the potty! maybe that should end or a different incentive structure needs to be in place now!

it's stamps on the hand at nursery here. she understands she gets sweets at home and stamps there.

I think it is time that you and dh started to embarrass yourselves. Whenever either of you need to visit the smallest room you need to announce at the top of your voice "I need a wee wee!!" Make a huge game out of it and praise each other hugely

Not one for the easily but it might give her more of an idea of what to do

DD never used to let me know she needed a wee but she did catch on eventually. It took a while though and got quite frustrating but she did get there in the end.
