Baby sleeping through poops

Hello,
My nearly 11 month old has for the last few nights done a poo in his sleep but slept right on through. We only know about it when we get him up in the morning where he has nasty red rash on his genitals. I really don't want to leave him in poo so am more than happy to change him even if he's sleeping but we have no idea when he's doing the poo! Has this happened to anyone else before?
He has had a nasty cold this last week. Could this be the cause?

Thanks for any advice!

Kids poo in their sleep. Very common. I wouldn't wake to change. I'd consider a different nappy brand though.

maybe the illness making them sleep more but yeah kids do this .I just gave mine a wash in the morning and plenty of rash cream .Sometimes they just sleep in their room and dont make us aware its just whats kids do

If they are not well, it can make their poo sorer; not sure if is more acidic or something. Slather them heavily in sudocreme or vaseline before bed to minimise irritation.

Put some cream when he goes to bed as a barrier in case it happens again.
