Broken wrist

My DS has a broken wrist and a soft cast. He had it applied yesterday. This evening he can move his cast up and down a bit (not intentionally it just moves, and his wrist will move inside. He has a good few fingers of room inside.

I can also feel from the outside the gaps. How tight did others have the soft casts on wrists?

I just wanted to see if others have found the same with a soft cast. The hospital mentioned going back if any swelling but this is the opposite. I'm assuming the swelling has gone down so now it's not providing sufficient support so may need redoing?

I have only had fibreglass and plaster myself so not used to the new style casts.
