Two to one nap transition

My baby is one this week and we are struggling with naps. He wakes around 6/6.30am. He loves his morning nap and will sleep 2 hours. He also still get tired/cranky in the morning after about 3/3.5 hours of awake time and is rubbing his eyes etc. So can easily go down around 9.30am for a nap and sleep until 11.30am. The problem is then he won’t take an afternoon nap and evenings are overtired and horrible. He’d probably take a nap around 4.30/5pm but I don’t want him sleeping that late. The best days are when we are out in the morning and he falls asleep in the car for 10-15 mins. Then he will still easily take an after lunch nap. So thinking of trying to wake him after 20 mins for his morning nap but that feels so mean since he loves that nap.

I think I'd aim to go out each morning if you can.

If you're at home I don't think it's mean to wake him but I'd perhaps wake him after 45 minutes which is a full sleep cycle.

Look on it as working towards moving his big nap to later rather than being mean Wink
