Hi,

Just wondering what people think of these names?

Which name is nicer: Ingrid, Thora or Beatrix?

Thanks!

Assuming you don't want only nice comments:

Ingrid makes me think of angry logic puzzles. Possibly Scandinavian ones with sensible blonde plaits.

Thora — mostly Thora Hird, sorry. Yes, even now. I don't think it's one of those old-lady names that's lost its smelling-of-pee-and-lavender connotations yet. Also makes me think of thorium. I don't think it sounds nice either.

Beatrix makes me think of dominatrices and Asterix. It's got the same slightly intimidating Germanicish vibes as the other two (not that there's anything particularly wrong with intimidating Germanic vibes, but I don't know if they would sit well on every little girl/teen/young woman.)

Ingrid is the nicest of the three but they are all a bit stern and out-dated. I know that 'old' names are having a come back but I don't know if Thora or Beatrix quite come into that category yet.

Some similar-ish suggestions that have a slightly younger vibe (understandably could be oppositive of the vibe you like)

Ingrid - Inga? Astrid?
Beatrix - Bea?
Thora - Tess?

Ingrid is a beautiful name, it was almost what I named my DD

Beatrix again is a lovely name but I feel like many can never pronounce it properly and 9/10 times will just say Beatrice instead.

Thora I'm not keen on.

Beatrix for sure; if DS was a DD this was the name we had!

Thora just makes me think of thorax, so not a fan.

Ingrid and Beatrix are both lovely, but I fear Beatrix will be said incorrectly as a PP pointed out. Beatrix would be my preference despite that.

Ingrid is lovely! I also like Sigrid, Astrid...

Beatrix is a little harsh sounding for me (but I don't really like the softer sounding Beatrice much either, so I guess it's just not my cup of tea)

Thora, I want to like but for some reason I'm not that keen. Prefer similar sounding names Martha, Cara, Clara, Tara, Thalia (but not Dora or Thelma)
