6 month DS has a cough - can I do anything for him?

I have it as well - sore throat and cough. He's been coughing away all night poor soul. Is there anything I can do to help ease it for him?

put a pillow under the head end of his mattress so he's a bit more upright
snufflebabe on his chest / bowl of hot water with drop of olbas oil in nursey / karvol on a muslin / etc

the worst thing is when they cough so hard they're sick

if possible, buy a humidifier to keep his room nice and steamy at night. It really helps.
