The dreaded sickness bug

Hi all, I’m mostly posting for some sympathy and a rant.

My DS woke up about two hours ago crying, went in and there was vomit everywhere. Cleaned him up, hoped it was a one off (dunno why I thought that, as it’s never a one off is it). 10 mins later he was sick again. So now I’m in his room with a bucket, flinching at every sound he makes. He’s still awake, but is clearly shattered. I’m hoping he’ll nod off soon.

I’m so annoyed at the timing, as we were supposed to be going away later this week. Now I don’t think we’ll be able to, as once he’s better no doubt me and my DP will get it. The trip is mostly refundable, but it was supposed to be a really nice treat after a difficult few months.

it’s such rotten timing, and honestly the worst part of DS gettting a sickness bug, is the waiting for it to inevitably get me!

I’m sorry op. Sending lots of sympathy. It’s always a low moment on the parenting road when they are ill. And vomiting bugs are especially grim. Usually they are short-lived and adults don’t always get them, so hope you get to go away as planned.

Hope your ds feels much better tomorrow and that you are both getting some sleep now.

Thank you for the sympathy! Yeah it’s awful when he’s sick anyway, but the sickness bug is awful as it comes with so much washing and time off work.

Sadly still both awake, he keeps nearly dropping off, then is sick again. I’m just about to try and sleep myself as my partner is going to sit with him. Apparently my partner hasnt managed to slept while I’ve been with DS, and could hear I was getting stressed. Fingers crossed I get some sleep, and that I don’t catch it, although unlikely given that I have a terrible immune system 😅
