4 year old won't leave me alone

Ds is 4 years old and really isn't good at entertaining himself. He's very high energy and constantly wants to play and gets upset when I ask him to play by himself. Even at the park he struggles to play by himself. He gets upset if he can't find other children to play with (he does usually find someone). I tell him he can't always have someone around but he gets upset. I can't even have a few minutes to myself without him looking for me. He's not like this at home with my dh. I feel so guilty for being snappy/short with him as he's a lovely boy. I also have a 3 week old ds so that adds to the tiredness. It's not jealousy as he was like this before and loves his baby brother. I'm counting down until Monday when he goes back to school! Just wondering when it gets easier?

I've no advice but my 5 year old is similar. It's exhausting. I feel so guilty for saying no sometimes but honestly I just can't sit and play cafe all day long. It kills my back for a start.
Do you take him out much? I find that helps.

I think that's really normal for 4 year olds.

My 5 year old now will play on his own but when the mood takes him, it's still not possible for me to just tell him to play on his own and for him to just do that.

My 8 year old since he was 7 will entertain himself whenever I need him to, pretty much.
