Braces?

The dentist has just advised braces for my teen.

Does anybody’s teen have Invisalign? Any tips for managing this at school? Do they actually brush their teeth at school and how do they do this without being embarrassed?

Also, how do people manage appointments around school? My child’s school is around an hour from where my husband and I work and 45 minutes from town. That feels like it would need an afternoon off for an appointment, and I’ve read appointments are every 4-6 weeks?!

Thanks for any help!

I had Invisalign but as an adult. I found it terribly embarrassing to brush my teeth in restaurant bathrooms, so much so that I just avoided eating out for the duration. Honestly can't imagine having to do that at a school.

Plus your child would never be able to eat a snack or have anything other than water without removing the braces, then brushing and reinserting (which is also quite painful during the first days if wearing new sets)

I'd go for the most invisible normal braces - sorry I don't know what they're called without googling. Ceramic? They're hardly noticeable and none of the Invisalign faff.

My son's school had individual toilets so nobody saw him brush.Small tube of toothpaste and a folding travel toothbrush was fine for at school.
