Was this right? Feel so guilty 😟

Our daughter is 3 and a half.
Husband and I alternate bed time. Everytime it's my turn, DD cries and screams as she wants DH to read a story. I never give in - she gets a story read by me and then she goes to sleep.
Tonight was the usual screaming and crying. I was dreading the battle i knew was about to commence so I gave her 5 seconds to get into bed or no story. She continued to kick off so had no story and has cried herself to sleep 😭
I feel like the worst mother 😟

YANBU Set boundaries and stick to them. She is not to young to learn actions have consequences. Do be consistent tho' If you don't do the same every time your daughter will get very confused she won't understand if sometimes there are consequences and sometimes there aren't.

You did right.

I wouldn't have left her to cry herself to sleep. But I also wouldn't have swapped with my partner if you're alternating. Is she properly in a daddy phase right now in general? Or is it just bed times?

You did the right thing, even though it feels completely shit. Boundaries, and sticking to them, is so important

100% the right thing
