Sling help

My 9 week old hates being in a sling. I have an Ergo Embrace and a Freerider but she cries her head off in both. I’ve been to my local sling library but it was so busy there was only time to show me how to put on the Embrace properly, and my little one still cried when in it! She loves being held and most of the time I’m holding her on my shoulder practically in a sling position. Everyone I know has a baby who loves the sling so I don’t know where I’m going wrong!

I’m desperate to be a bit hands free - has anyone had the same problems and do you have any advice?!

I had a sling for DD1. It was one of the most useless things I ever bought so I binned it.

DD hated it and so did I. It was also a dreadful faff to put on and "wearing" my baby made us both so hot and uncomfortable.

I just put her down or in her cot/bouncy chair when I needed to and ignored the (mostly very short lived) protests. Sometimes I even just put her in the pram. She frequently just went to sleep after a few minutes giving off (loudly).

Some babies (and parents) just don't like or get on with slings.

It took me ages to feel comfortable/confident using the sling with my first and I think she could pick up when I wasn't comfortable so cried. She also was never really happy being in it whilst I pottered around, only happy if we were outside walking about. Maybe try the sling library again, or if you have any friends using different ones you could ask them to let you have a try of theirs to see if you find one that suits you both better?
