I’m looking at getting a hip seat. My DD is coming on for 9 months, getting heavy, and at the stage where she wants to be up and down constantly as she’s desperate to master crawling fully, but also has pangs of separation anxiety and likes to be held. I have some pre-existing hip and knee issues that I’m conscious of making worse by the off-balance stance of having her on my hip, as much as I try to stand up straight. The hip seat seems like a good option as it’ll take a lot of the weight. I know it’s not completely hands-free like a structured carrier, but it seems like you’d generally have one hand for doing things while the other wraps around baby, like when she’s sat on my hip. We have an Ergobaby carrier which she likes but is too much faff to put on and off constantly. The hip seat seems like something that’s quick to put on and wouldn’t be too cumbersome to just keep on if needed. I think my mum would also like it as she’s already struggling with holding/carrying DD due to her own hip issues (certainly hope DD doesn’t take after both of us!).
Does anyone have one, and could recommend it?
I’m looking at the MomCozy one on Amazon and it seems well reviewed? Ergobaby launched their Lift hip seat a few months ago but it seems to be semi-permanently unavailable on their website. I’ve also seen TushBaby recommended. Both of those seem more expensive than the MomCozy one, and I think with the latter you’ve to order from the States and have it shipped here.
All thoughts & recommendations welcome, thank you.
