Newborn too much formula?

Hi,
we have been introducing formula to my ebf baby for a while and I’ve not decided to give formula a lot more regularly as breastfeeding is just ruining my mental state now.
hes 4 weeks and 10lb 4ish, i offer him 4oz bottles, feed slowly stop to burp etc it takes a while, but hes consistently looking for more, will eat up to 6oz everytime and is never sick or uncomfortable seeming after.
when breastfeeding he would go half an hour if lucky between feeds I’ve always just thought he was a super hungry baby but im worried this is too much for him. Dont really know what to do about it?

We exclusively formula fed.
Look up pace feeding and make sure you're following that otherwise if baby isn't sick or uncomfortable continue and offer more if he wants it.

Over feeding can happen but it's pretty rare if you pace feed.

There were times DS was going through a growth spurt and would literally have so much i would wonder where he put it!

The guides on the tub are just that. Guides. I found it varied massively. I always went with what DS wanted. He was born small at 5lb 7 oz so I always said he was catching up!

He's now 2.5 and perfect weight and height for his age

If you're worried speak to your HV though

Obviously you let your baby feed till they've had enough

They are growing as are stomachs so of course he's drinking more than he was

He'll be drinking more week by week as he grows

If you don't feed him till he decides he's had enough you're basically starving him

Yeah thanks for that, I wasn’t suggesting I starve him but just wondered if there were different methods or anything and if other people had babies this young eating so much, just looking for reassurance.

Don't worry hun. My DS ate a lot too at that age. Look up pace feeding and try not to worry too much

You can also use as a guide the formula of 150ml × kg of weight to give the total daily amount of formula. Some babies will have more, some babies will have less, but the feeding team that DD2 is under used this as an inital guide. I've found it really helpful on days where she is fussy or rejecting the bottle to get a rough sense of whether she is way off the mark.

Just feed on demand at that stage. Agree with looking up pace feeding if not doing so already so that he will be controlling how much he takes. Babies can vary a lot - a friends baby was taking more than twice as much as mine at that age but both were normal and taking what they need.
