HELP

Right, my daughter had her ears pierced in August (she's 5) I cleaned them 3 times a day for about 7/8 weeks and all was good. She's complained that one ear was painful occasionally when I asked her to twist them but nothing major and it looks fine!!! Tonight she's been to gymnastics where she had to take them out which was a big issue for her but they looked fine apart from the back of one of them which looked red. She was really panicky about putting either of them back in but one's gone back fine and the other not so.

It's got through half fine, but struggling to get it back through and looks red and sore at the back. Iv then moved it around and made it bleed 🥴🥴🥴🥴. Lots of tears and she's told me this ear really hurts, now it's bled she's completely shut down. Now gone to bed and agreed to re try tomorrow but I'm worried it's a no go. Help.

I think the OP has had enough pearl clutching posts about the age of her daughter. Not helpful in any way and unnecessarily unkind.
OP I hope you manage to sort it out.

I haven't seen any of the advice on here as being unkind...it may not fit your narrative, but most people don't see the need to pierce parts of a child's body at a young age.

I really do not understand why people feel the need to judge when they don't know the situation ... for 2 years I had tears about my DD wanting her ears pierced and we waited until we thought she would understand how important it is not to touch and clean them. It was FULLY her decision, I actually asked her not to have them done but it was something she really wanted and all she asked for as a birthday present. So leave the judgement please!

5 year olds also want lots of very expensive shiny plastic shit that they promise to play with forever and ever which lies in the corner of their bedroom 20 minutes after opening the box.

Nothing involving a 5 year old should be fully their decision

Mine was covered in temporary tattoos at that age. Desperate for real ones. (Neither me or her dad have any!).

She cried for two years, from the age of 3, to have her ears pierced, so you agreed? It was "FULLY her decision" - at the age of 5? You "actually asked her not to have them done" - at the age of 5? Blimey. You have some rocky years ahead of you.

Oh earrings can be a right royal pain in the arse. I tried twice in my teens to have them done, then did then when I was 39. It took a full year for them to heal and then I stupidly put in a gorgeous pair of Whitby jet earrings for a night out I'd just been given by my mother for my 40th birthday, took them out at 3 am when I got home and by 9 am one of them had healed up.
I give up 😂

OrlandointheWilderness · 16/10/2024 09:32

Oh and mine were done by a good piercer, not a Claire's hatchet job 😂

You can buy numbing cream or use ice - I would ensure you use some germoline when doing it. I also think you need to try thinner earrings.

My girls were 5 and had theirs done- I’m not sure why the age matters as most women have piercings, and a lot of men too..

The age matters because a five year old cannot give informed consent...

This is what hooens when you get them done far too young.

Hello, appreciate this is an old post, but just wondering what happened with your daughter's earrings in the end? We are having a similar issue with my little girl and one of her earrings 😓 x
