Nursery put DS back in pull-ups today

DS turned 3 in September. Delayed in his speech and communication and being monitored by private SALT, HV and preschool. All on the fence about SEN as he is able to verbally communicate most of his needs, stringing small 2-3 word sentences and otherwise is developing fairly typically. Started potty training at the beginning of the summer holidays and thought he’d cracked it. We had a few accidents the first couple of weeks but after that we have no accidents at home or out at weekends. However, he still needs lots of prompts to go and (unless it’s a poo - he can verbally say he needs to go) rarely communicates that he needs a wee until it’s too late. He will take himself to the toilet/potty if at home but I suppose I’ve just got in the habit of prompting every hour and a half which works.

He’s had a few dry days at nursery but the vast majority have had at least one accident. Usually towards the end of the week when he’s tired. I just send lots of clothes as they’ve requested and every time I’ve asked them about it, there’s been a reason - like too much fun playing or he’ll tell them and then have an accident before he gets to the toilet.

Today though, I’ve got home and they’ve put him in a pull up but not said anything. I will obviously address this with them tomorrow but I feel really frustrated if they suggest he goes back to pull ups but I also understand why they don’t want to be changing wet clothes each day. Anyone else done this and kept pants on at home? Any tips for improving the situation at nursery? Feeling a bit deflated and hoping he’d have got it at nursery by now.

Talk to the nursery. I’ve heard of policies where it’s 3 accidents and into a pull up. Or maybe they ran out of or couldn’t find his clean pants? If he’s just turned 3 and doesn’t start school for nearly 2 years then I think it’s normal that nursery will need to take him on a schedule to avoid accidents, I would ask about that too.

they probably forgot to tell you that it had been a day full of accidents and for the safety of the other children they had to put him in pull ups

maybe book a few days off to consolidate it at home?
