How do I sort this?

So I did a previous thread but will do bullet points before getting to my question

  • we’re on day 3 of potty training DS who is 2y9mo
  • doing fantastic. When he is bare from waist down he will just take himself to potty.
  • sometimes with undies will ask that we pull them down so he can go, or try to pull down himself indicate he wants to go

I want to help more with getting him to do it off his own accord / telling us. He seems confident to do this bare from waist down. But with undies + pants it’s a bit different.

do I just tomorrow stop prompting and let him have accidents? It sounds bad. But I’ve mainly kept prompting and he’s gone but has gone off own accord too

when he’s had an accident he knows he’s said my pants wet, I’ve had a wee etc

so to get him to start telling us he needs one is it a case of let him have more accidents at first ?

No, I’d keep him bare/undies for now. You don’t want him thinking wet pants is ok

Tbh when he’s had any wet accidents etc he tells me or tries to take them off

its just more he goes to nursery tomorrow so how do I work it so he’s half ready? As they can’t potty train obviously but they will carry on what we’ve started x

Oh crap book says pants press on the skin a bit and feel like a nappy so they wet, try commando with loose trousers?

Letting him wet isn't bad, it's a learning process. Most kids don't magically get it straight away. We used to get DC to help clean up with mop, cloth etc so a natural consequence of wetting was having to stop playing for a bit.

Edited

Tbh I’ve noticed this morning he’s told me more when he wants to go - and he’s just got pyjama bottoms on. But even this morning he told me he needed the potty before we took his nighttime pull up off so it’s going well?

but yeah I just worry about undies as for nursery he’ll need undies and then joggers etc

that makes sense what oh crap says as it is nappy to undies it must be similar for them!

so maybe today on our last day in I just try loose trousers ? As he practices telling me he needs one
