How do I make it up to someone I've let down?

I've been an absolute twunt. I said I would mind my DD's friend for 15 mins so that her mum could get to work on time. I completely forgot. Result - mum late for work, me feeling really guilty.

I"ve left a message apologising and will again ring later. I really, really hate letting people down. She reminded me yesterday as well so I really should have remembered. If I were her I would be really pissed off with me. I don't know her very well, but my DD really loves her DD.

Sincere apology, box of chocs, and have her daughter round for tea.
