Sudden nappy rash - never suffered before

Hi :) my 16m is suddenly suffering with bad nappy rash, her bits are red raw and it’s horrible changing her bum as she’s in pain.

weve always used same nappies, wipes and creams. They use different at nursery but she’s never had any issues before. We’re changing her frequently and we’ve advised nursery to change every 2 hours unless soiled of course. Just wondering if there could be any underlying cause as she’s never suffered this bad before! Thanks

Hi,

Just wondering if she has had antibiotics recently? She could be suffering from thrush. It is worth seeing the GP for this if she is in pain, poor thing.

No antibiotics recently. Thankyou. Going to see how she is over the weekend whilst she’s at home.

should have mentioned with cream it clears up over night but comes back the next day!

It could be a sudden food sensitivity! Has she had something unusual in her diet that she doesn't get at home.

Could be Thrush.
Try applying some Canesten.

That would be my next guess, along with diarrhoea/stomach bug that can really irritate her skin during the day.

Maybe ask the nursery what her poos are like? Also, to make sure the area is dry after wipes before putting cream on while it’s so sore. If it was super bad, maybe wool and water instead of wipes to clean? These things sometimes help if it’s super bad.

Hope it clears up soon, nothing worse than not knowing what it is and how to treat it.

Our lad has a sore bum at the moment due to Hand, foot and mouth. It’s a weird strain going around where we are. Very few spots elsewhere nearly all on bum.

We had this! Never had any nappy rash at all and then had the most awful bout of it and it took almost a week to clear up. Our coincided with awful teething and then a bad poo.

Always hand foot mouth in my kids. We call it bum foot mouth. Only ever on bum

My son got it when teething. Not sure why. Any more teeth coming through at the moment?

Thanks all!! She did have hand foot and mouth 2 weeks ago… not sure if this is a delayed reaction 🤔
