Sleeping during the day

How old did you start putting baby to sleep their cot during the day?

DD is 4 months old and sleeps without any fuss in their cot at night next to our bed for 6 hours (don't even need to rock them) however during the day DD seems to not last long maybe ten minutes. DD will sleep longer either with a contact nap on me or next to me on the sofa.

Just wondered what your experience was and if this is normal and if you had any tips on settling them down during the day?

Some don't like the cot in daytime.

I started when DD was about 1 year old and dropped down to 1 nap. Before that, she was on 2 naps for a while, but the timing of them was too random to put her to bed. When she did 2 naps, she'd mostly fall asleep in the buggy when she was tired. Before that, she would sleep in the sling multiple times a day. At 4 months it was probably mostly in the sling. DS is currently 2 months and sleeps in the sling only in the day, or on my knee.
