Funded hours supplement

If you're using the 15/30 funded childcare hours, can I ask how much you pay the nursery to supplement these hours?

We are looking for a new nursery and most around here seem to be about £10-£12 a day. The highest I've seen is £22 a day - £2 per funded hour and £2 for lunch.

I'm just curious, really. I understand why nurseries are charging.

£2.20 an hour on top of the funded hours.

For a day that gets 2x 3 hour funded sessions, £39 per day but that’s 8-6. If we wanted just the 8.30-3.30 then it would be an additional £10.50 a day.

We only ever paid extra for lunch (which was also an extra charge pre-funded hours). I think it was £4.75 per day for lunch.

We pay an extra £10 a day on funded days

I just pay £3 for lunch but cant use the funded hours in school holidays so pay full price then and loose 3 hours a week as a result. The price is still averaged out over the whole year so I pay the same every month.

So, are you paying for an additional four hours a day?

£18 per day here

£7 a day here, plus sports/activities the nursery have companies come into teach, some are mandatory.

My bill is between £250-£300 every half term.

DC attends Monday-Friday.

Nothing.
30 hours a week but term time only

WhereIsMyLight · 02/10/2024 18:33

On funded days, it’s four hours plus snacks. Funded hours don’t cover all our sessions so some days we pay the full day rate. We also pay the full rate during school holidays.

So pro rata it would be more than 4 hours a day we’re paying for.

15 hours - you get 5 hours a day over 3 days and it costs £5 per day.

30 hours - £5 per day if you spread over 5 days, £15 per day if you spread over 3 days.

On the nursery's fees page I think it says you're paying £5 per meal and I think if you don't want the nursery to provide any meals and you send in a packed lunch you get the funded days free.
