My DD ( 19M) can distal pointing to show interest but she almost never points to things in books ( she uses the word for it ) .or to request Like when she sees flowers in books she just says “ flower “ but when she sees a cat in the street she points and say the word . Is it normal . She has a good vocabulary ( approximately 100 words . She copies everything, very engaging but bad separation anxiety from us . A bit of echolalia when watches tv but I have been told by the gp and a ped that it is a necessary step to build language up to the age of 3 ☺️ .

I've got to be honest, I simply didn't notice things in this much detail. She'll be fine. Keep reading books with her and point to the pictures yourself. It's not something to worry about.
